Living with Type 1 Diabetes doesn't have to be so bad!

Living day-to-day with a chronic disease like Type 1 Diabetes is tough. We won't sugar coat it. Its HARD.

However, that doesn't mean it has to be bad! Get to know us, let us help you, follow our little corner of the internet, and let's do Type 1 together. Hard things are always easier when we do them together.
🤍

About Us...

We are a family of 5 dedicated to helping educate, connect with, and support the Type 1 Diabetes community 🩸💙

Our Type 1 journey began in 2021 when our middle kiddo, Drew, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 🩸 and Celiac disease 🌾. You can read all about his diagnosis HERE. Then in 2023, our youngest kiddo, Adam, was also diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 🩸 and a severe wheat allergy 🌾. You can read about his diagnosis HERE.

Like many families, we were suddenly thrown into a world of carb counting ⚖️, insulin dosing 💉, technology 🤖, appointments 🗓️, and emotions 🙃 we never expected to face—twice. Nothing fully prepares you for the weight of a Type 1 diagnosis, and those early years were filled with learning, trial and error, exhaustion, and growth.

At the time of our boys’ diagnoses, we were simply parents doing our very best to keep our kids safe and healthy. Over time, as we gained experience and confidence navigating life with Type 1, something changed—I found myself wanting to do more to help other families walking this same path. 🫶🏼

Several years into our journey, I began working as a Registered Nurse 🩺 in endocrinology, caring for children and families living with Type 1 Diabetes. I also became a certified product trainer for multiple insulin pump companies and started volunteering with a Type 1 diabetes nonprofit organization. 💙 These roles grew naturally out of our lived experience and my desire to give back to a community that has supported us in so many ways.

While this professional and volunteer work has deepened my understanding of diabetes care and technology, everything shared here is rooted first and foremost in our family’s real-life experience—the highs, the hard days, and everything in between.

Our oldest son, Danny, has been such a trooper 🥰 through all of these changes. Type 1 Diabetes affects the entire family, and he has grown into an incredible source of support for his brothers. 💙

Outside of diabetes life, we are also a homeschooling family 📚. We’ve been homeschooling since 2019, and it has been a great fit for our family’s needs—especially while navigating chronic illness without the added stress of constant school accommodations and 504 plans. (So much love to the mamas walking that road 🫶🏼.) If you ever want to chat about homeschooling, you can sign up for my homeschool email list HERE.

We live in the Buffalo, NY area 🌲 and love spending time with family and friends—especially camping during the summer months. We bought a camper 🚌 in 2023, and it has quickly become one of our favorite ways to slow down and make memories. Do you camp? 🏕️ I’d love to hear your favorite campgrounds!

We also have four cats 🐈 (Leo, Loki, Callie, and Fluffy). What started as two cats turned into four after rescuing and fostering a litter of kittens in 2020—and we just couldn’t say goodbye to two of them 🙃.

Our home is often loud and chaotic 🤪 (between two CGMs and two insulin pumps, there’s a lot of beeping 📢🤖), but it’s also filled with love, resilience, and support.

Type 1 Diabetes isn’t a journey we ever expected, but it’s one that has shaped our family in ways we’re deeply grateful for 🙏🏼❤️ Our hope is that by sharing our story, resources, and experiences, you feel a little less alone and a little more supported on your own journey.

Type 1 is always better together 💙

PS. If you haven’t noticed, I love emojis 😉 I hope you don’t mind.
